Blues for Japan

I woke up this morning wanting to play something about the events in Japan and the emotions surrounding this tragedy. I knew I couldn’t put it into words so I thought I would improvise something. This is my tribute to the country of Japan, my friends there, the families of friends here and there and everyone else affected by this terrible event. Please forgive the sound and my unfamiliarity with doing something like this as it was recorded in my living room on garageband. Click the player below to hear. Love to Japan.

   Mr. McGill: I was in the audience for the Coleman concert in Pasadena last stormy Sunday, the 20th. The sweet delicious clarity of your sound enchanted me. Forgive me for not knowing of you before. But I do now. And thank you for “Blues for Japan.” I’ve been wondering how I can honor Japan in my work as you have done with this improvisation.    Anthony,

   Exquisite. This is the first piece I’ve experienced from you other than the President’s Inauguration. I didn’t know who you were in 2009 but, amazingly, I received an e-mail from Getty and there you were.

   I’m off to work but when I get off I will research your career and purchase your music on iTunes. I hope it’s on iTunes.

   Congrats on your obvious accomplishments and I wish you much success going forward.
